After several months of analysing collection routes, Greyhound has re-scheduled the majority of collections with the outcome that collection days for most residents will change. A spokesperson for Greyhound said: ‘this is the first major overhaul of the Green Bin collection schedule since the wheelie bins were introduced in 1999. It will deliver an enhanced service to the local authority and its customers.’ He continued: ‘in effect, someone who put their bin out on a Monday every two weeks may now be required to put it out for collection on a different day’. This change will affect the majority of householders, and both Fingal County Council and Greyhound have urged customers to study the letter that will be delivered over the coming days to all households. PJ Howell, Director of Services, Environment Department, Fingal County Council said: ‘it is important that people take note of their new collection dates, and make sure that they leave out their bins on the correct collection day. Fingal residents have a very high level of recycling and we welcome any changes by Greyhound Recycling which will assist people to continue their levels of recycling and keep household costs down.’ Updates on the imminent changes and how it affects the collection service will be available on www.greenbin.ie.
