Composting
- Composting is nature's way of recycling. Organic waste such as bread, vegetable peelings, fruit waste, flower cuttings are processed at our Meath Composting Facility into Grade 2 Compost.
- The finished compost is dark brown, and has a spongy texture which is rich in nutrients. It may be used as a soil fertiliser for your gardenor in a commercial sense, it is used by companies to 'cover or cap' a landfill
What can be composted? Kitchen food scraps - uncooked • Meat - raw or cooked • Fish bones/fish scraps • Grease, oil or fatty foods • Dairy products • Stale bread/crusts • Old vegetables & peelings • Carrot, onion, etc. • Potato skins • Tea leaves and teabags • Coffee grounds and filters • Eggshells - washed and crushed • Vacuum cleaner bag contents • Hair - human or pet • Paper towels and napkins • Compostable cutlery & cups • Plants and flowers Under EU directives, it is now a legally-binding action for companies to assist in segregating food waste at source.
