Biomass - Solid Recovered Fuel (SRF)
- What is Solid Recovered Fuel (SRF)? It is a fuel produced by shredding municipal solid waste (MSW) or steam pressure treating such waste in an autoclave. SRF consists largely of organic components of municipal waste such as plastics and biodegradable waste (light plastics, paper, cardboard, textiles, papers, etc). SRF processing facilities are normally located near a source of MSW
Why use Solid Recovered Fuel? Because it is an alternative source to fossil fuels and is helping Irish industry to meet targets to use alternative fuel sources and reduce fossil fuel dependancy Greyhound has successfully developed cutting edge segregation technology to extract the biomass element from general mixed waste streams (Solid Recovered Fuel) We have successfully marketed Solid Recovered Fuel to cement producers in Ireland (Lagan Cement), Britain and into Europe
