Bio-Diesel
Through our partnership with Queen’s University Belfast, Greyhound is producing high quality Bio-Diesel from recycled used cooking oil. This oil is collected from restaurants, retailers and companies across Ireland The oil is converted it into high quality BioDiesel that conforms to the Government's stringent standards for diesel quality Greyhound supplies BioDiesel to a number of high profile clients including Dublin Bus' tourist fleet, McDonalds' transport fleet and vehicles operated by Longford Town Council. And for its own use, Greyhound's fleet and plant machinery are all fueled and operated by green BioDiesel manufactured here in Dublin
 Why Use BioDiesel?
FACT - BioDiesel reduces carbon dioxide exhaust emissions by up to 80% FACT - BioDiesel produces 100% less sulphur dioxide than petroleum based diesel, and sulfur dioxide is the major component of acid rain FACT - BioDiesel reduces exhaust smoke (particulates) emissions by up to 75% so the usual black cloud associated with a diesel engine can be eliminated FACT - BioDiesel provides significant lubricity improvement over petroleum diesel fuel so engines last longer, with the right additives engine performance can also be enhanced FACT - Low Sulpur and Ultra Low Sulphur Diesel require additives to add the lubricity back into the fuel, but BioDiesel is a totally renewable additive for this role and complements the use of Ultra Low Sulphur Diesel BioDiesel can be mixed with existing diesel to create various mixtures like B5 or B20 blends
