Greyhound Recycling & Recovery is dedicated to excellence in all our practices and policies concerning the safety, health and welfare at work. We strive to be good corporate citizen in the communities in which we operate, and to provide a safe and healthy workplace. Greyhound is firmly committed to managing its activities so as to safeguard the health and safety of its employees, customers, sub-contractors, suppliers, visitors, self-employed personnel and the community.

The company’s Health and Safety Policy has been widely disseminated and provide the guiding principles necessary to ensure that the highest safety, health and welfare standards are achieved.

This policy and its associated procedures are designed to achieve the following corporate objectives:

1)     Conduct our business with integrity to comply with all health and safety legislation that applies to the company, surpassing basic compliance whenever possible

2)     Avoid or reduce the risks to health and safety form company operations, and prevent accidents or injury/ill health at work.

3)     Make sure that our management systems are effective in maintaining standards and fulfilling the challenge of securing continuous improvement in health and safety performance

In order to achieve these objectives we will:

  • Provide leadership and commitment as an expression of the importance that the board and the senior management team places on H&S issues

  • Provide the financial and human resources to allow H&S issues to be given an appropriate level of priority

  • Promote the highest practicable standards of Safety, Health and Welfare throughout every facet of our operations

  • Ensure competence on H&S matters through information, education, training, supervision and awareness at all levels in the organisation, including creating an understanding of individual responsibilities for health and safety. The company will do everything that is reasonable and practical to ensure that its sub-contractors provide similar arrangements to their employees.

  • Provide good communication internally and externally and encourage employee involvement and cooperation at all levels in the organisation in meeting H&S objectives.

  • Undertake assessments to identify the risks to health and safety from company operations and ensure that appropriate control measures are implemented.

  • Investigate incidents/accidents to identify the root cause and take action to prevent recurrence.

  • Set key corporate objectives and performance targets that can be measured and assessed, reporting results in a meaningful and transparent way both internally and externally.

  • Undertake regular H&S inspections and audits of operations, and review performance, to ensure continuous improvement in H&S management

Arrangements are in place to regularly monitor and audit the company’s compliance with the policy. Company health and safety objectives and targets and the policy are reviewed and agreed formally each year.
